#AFRIMACWoman it's an initiative of Cabildo of Fuerteventura jointly with the Ministry of post and telecommunications of the Government of Senegal.
The operative program
The operational programme of Territorial cooperation Madeira-Azores-Canary Islands (MAC) 2014-2020 is the main instrument available to the regions ultra peripheral of Spain and Portugal to offer an effective response to the common challenges they face in terms of innovation, competitiveness, internationalization and sustainable development.
The space of cooperation consists of Madeira, the Azores and the Canary Islands, in addition to three countries: Cape Verde, Senegal and Mauritania, due to its proximity geographical, it has invited them and they have agreed to participate in the program that has allowed to enlarge the natural area of socio-economic and cultural influence.
objetives
The specific objectives of the initiative within AFRIMAC are:
-Improvement of the human capital and entrepreneurship promotion.
-Strengthening of the presence of women in business and technology.
This initiative is an essential part of the AFRIMAC project, which, in turn, are generated other benefits indirectly affecting participants comprising #AFRIMACWoman.
This part of the initiative is mainly based on a training exchange between women entrepreneurs from Senegal and Fuerteventura,for nearly two weeks, with the aim of promoting the presence of women in technological activities, Economic and entrepreneurship, and to promote a more effective participation of women in future decision-making processes.
One of the actions to be developed by the participants is the creation of a journal of experiences that allows to give the own initiative, and tell us first hand experiences that the participants experience on the ground.
strategic lines
#AFRIMACWoman has several distinct strategic lines:
-Improve the competitiveness of women entrepreneurs. The training will focus on the following points:
+ Support for entrepreneurship through digital strategies.
+ Improve the qualification in ICT. By means of technological training and digital marketing tools online.
+ Social support of empowerment, leadership, social innovation and personal development
+ Language Enhancement.
-Improve territorial cooperation and internationalization
-Create a cultural exchange that persists for years.

Sonia and Natalia introduced themselves as teachers, so they wanted to teach us a song to sing and dance. The Senegalese are always happy to dance, so they tried to take us out to the middle of the circle we formed, and we tried, but our hips do not move with the same rhythm. Body language is very important to bring us together, and it worked!

For instance, Natalia, Sonia and me had the opportunity to live for a day as a Senegalese alone with Moussou. We went to his house, where we met her neighbours and got ready to go to the “Lac Rose” which means “pink lake”. After taking three buses we arrived, and there in the middle of a beautiful village there was the big lake with pink water. As they explained us, this is due to the algae that their waters contain.

Afrimac is a women’s empowerment project and being so, we decided to ask about their role on the Ombudsman Office and if the hold positions with a certain degree of responsibility. It seems that women only occupy for now administrative positions without relevant significance. However, they indicate that the Senegalese Government do have women as public office.

We started the second part of the course which consisted on learning the important aspects to consider when presenting our project.
We also made a practical case taking one of the girls’ projects. To fin-ish, we worked on how to prepare a SWOT analysis, which involves an important part of our projects. Strength Weakness Opportunity Threat.

We were shown the old shoes made with goatskin, the plants that grow the most on the island and shells to make good music, Rayco gave us a demonstration with Julia and we liked it very much. The dance was part of it, Pedro taught us the Canarian dance, and we danced together the mbalakh dance too.
